We’re excited to share the news of a private collection of superb quality Art Deco jewels which has just arrived in time for Christmas.
Among it is a fabulous emerald pendant brooch by Collingwood & Co. Ltd., in its original case labelled ‘Jewellers to the Royal Family’.
Collingwood was founded in 1817 and moved to Conduit St (off Bond St) in 1929 and this piece demonstrates the meticulous craftsmanship of the House in its versatile design which includes a mechanism that transforms it from a brooch to a pendant.
A pair of elegant aquamarine and diamond earrings are also significant in that they are stamped ‘Cartier London 1483’ with the two pendant cut aquamarines totalling 7 carats.
All these jewels were bought in London in the 1930’s, a wonderful period for jewellery design, and have been in private ownership since.
Art Deco describes the modern style of the 1920’s after the end of World War 1 and is characterised by bold contrasting colours, concise well defined lines and strict geometric harmony.
These extremely fashionable and highly collectible Deco jewels were often set in platinum and were made by the leading London jewellers such as Collingwood and Cartier.
This exclusive collection is now on display alongside our own selection of fine Art Deco jewels and we look forward to showing them to you in our Queen Street shop.
Our trading hours are Tuesday to Friday, 11am – 5pm and Saturdays, 10am -2pm.
We will be closed for our annual holidays from Saturday 25 December 2021 until Wed 12 Jan 2022.
Best wishes for the festive season.
